The short answer

Shopify's Basic plan costs S$39 a month, or S$29 a month paid yearly. Through Shopify Payments, a standard online card payment costs 3.2% plus S$0.50 on Basic, and American Express or international cards cost 3.6% plus S$0.50; higher plans charge slightly less. A paid theme is a one-off of about US$150 to US$450, and most stores add a few apps billed monthly in US dollars. Setting up products and customising the theme is a separate one-off cost; our starting price is linked below.

Shopify plans in Singapore

On Shopify's Singapore pricing page, Basic is S$39 a month (S$29 a month paid yearly), Grow S$132 (S$99) and Advanced S$531 (S$399). Shopify Plus for large stores starts at about US$2,300 a month.

Shopify has added GST to the bills of stores in Singapore since December 2019, so budget for GST on top of the plan price.

Payment fees on each sale

With Shopify Payments, standard online card rates are 3.2% plus S$0.50 on Basic, 3.1% plus S$0.50 on Grow and 3% plus S$0.50 on Advanced. American Express and international cards cost 3.6%, 3.5% and 3.4% respectively, each plus S$0.50. On a S$100 sale on Basic, that is S$3.70 with a standard card and S$4.10 with an international card.

If you use another payment provider instead, Shopify adds its own fee of 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced, on top of that provider's charges.

Themes and apps

The Shopify Theme Store has free themes and paid themes, most between US$150 and US$450 as a one-off payment.

Apps are where monthly costs grow. Judge.me reviews is free or US$15 a month, Klaviyo email marketing is free up to 250 contacts, and Recharge subscriptions has plans from US$25 to US$499 a month, some with transaction fees.

If you also sell in a physical shop, Shopify POS Pro is S$129 a month per location.

What building the store adds

A store build covers products and collections, a theme customised to your brand, checkout and shipping settings, and search setup. You supply product details and photos. A custom design, extra integrations or moving an old store cost more.

Add up the first year: plan fees, any paid theme, apps, the build, and the payment fees you expect on your sales. The theme and the build are one-off costs; plan fees are fixed each month; most app fees are monthly, and some apps also charge per transaction; payment fees grow with your sales.
